Ans :- Opacity is used to change the trasparence of a selected layer where 0 is the total trasnparency and 100 is no transparency.

Ans :- You can use GIMP blending modes to specify pixels in a layer should blend with the layers below. It is use to create all kind of visual effect in your photo.
